Bumbershoot is the immensely popular art and music festival that marks the end of the Seattle summer and is held each year on Labor Day weekend (Aug. 30-Sept. 2). This event typically draws 100,000 attendees over its three day run. This is the 43rd year of the festival and features 100 acts ranging from breakthrough contemporary acts like Kendrick Lamar, BASSNECTAR and alt-J to rock veterans like Eric Burdon and The Zombies. In addition you can see Death Cab for Cute performing their 2003 album Transatlanticism. Icona Pop, Deerhunter, Delta Rae, alt-rock pioneers Bob Mould, The Breeders, Superchunk, Redd Kross, Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience and Baroness, Charles Bradley and His Extraordinaires, Gary Numan, Tegan and Sara, and Seattle folk-soul singer Allen Stone, a breakout act from Bumbershoot 201 will all take their turn performing.
The festival has gained in popularity as it has expanded from offering popular live music acts to also include comedy, theatre, dance, film, urban crafts, literary arts, and visual arts. You can also partake in a special treat called After Dark which is a series of after shows that go on at night after the festival has closed.
