Cal Anderson Park is a 20 minute walk from downtown Seattle and a 5 minute walk from Seattle Central Community College. The park includes a wonderful fountain (especially on those very hot days in the city), texture pool and reflecting pool, beautiful walking paths, a shelter-house, a plaza, a children’s play area, a wading pool, lighted sports fields, and a number of oversize chess boards.

This open park invites you to take a walk, provides wonderful spots to just sit and think, places to read your favorite book, the opportunity to enjoy informal sports in the meadow, or you can take part in organized sports on the athletic field. If you are a walker: the circumference of the park on the sidewalks, including Bobby Morris Playfield, is about about 2/3s of a mile. An interior loop on gravel paths, using the old concrete gatehouse as the most southern edge and passing the cone water feature to the north, is maybe a 1/3 of a mile.

If you work in Seattle this is a wonderful place to walk to and enjoy, or it is the perfect spot to have a family picnic on the weekend.  Rated by Forbes Magazine in 2009 as one of the 12 best city parks in the US. Take a look at the write up by Forbes.
