Donated moments are amazing

Volunteering… contributing one’s time or talents without regard for compensation. We shape our world, our community, and more importantly ourselves, when we give.  I doubt if anyone can tell you how much money Arland Williams accumulated in his life or the positions he held.  There is a quote that came from January 13th, 1982 that I think about a lot.  “His heroism was not rash.  Aware that his own strength was fading, he deliberately handed hope to someone else, and he did it repeatedly.  On that cold and tragic day, Arland D Williams Jr. exemplified one of the best attributes of human nature, specifically that some people are capable of doing anything for total strangers.” I want, I hope, to be a little more like Arland and a little less like me.  I have spent the weekend looking for opportunities where I can donate my time.  Below are some of the organizations that I found appealing, and maybe provide the kind experiences that will help me be the person I am supposed to be when I grow up.

Please share your your personal stories or organizations that you think need a hand; help us all to  see how one person can make a real difference.
