Below is the top 10 list of super foods from the American Diabetes that everyone should eat that will mesh best with their diabetes meal plan.  All of the foods on the list have a low glycemic index or GI and provide the key nutrients that are lacking in the typical diet such as: calcium, potassium, fiber, magnesium, vitamins A (as carotenoids),  C, and E.




The list includes:

·         Beans

·         Dark Green Leafy Vegetables

·         Citrus Fruit

·         Sweet Potatoes

·         Berries

·         Tomatoes

·         Fish High in Omega-3 Fatty Acids

·         Whole Grains

·         Nuts

·         Fat-free Milk and Yogurt
